Star Trek: Enterprise (2001 - 2005)

Take your Vulcan cynicism and bury it with your repressed emotions

A prequel series, set 100 years before the original Star Trek series, which focuses on the early years of Starfleet, leading up to the formation of the Federation and the Earth-Romulan Wars. The series is set aboard the Earth ship Enterprise NX-01, captained by Jonathan Archer.

The TV Series

By the time Enterprise came along, I had had my fill with Star Trek. Generations was quite good, but Deep Space Nine was awful. Voyager was okay, and Enterprise was mild to lukewarm. The stories for Enterprise were not as involving as Generations or Voyager. They aort of meandered all over the place, never finding that niche to call home. Though some stories were really good. My favourite one was In A Mirror Darkly Parts 1 and 2. It had to do with time travel and was dramatic and suspenseful. If only all the other stories had followed suit. Alas, Mirror was in Season 4, and by that time it was too late for the series.

The Soundtrack

Composers: Dennis McCarthy composed the bulk of the series, and others filled in. A surprise was Brian Tyler (featured yesterday for Rambo). Tyler composed for two episodes - Canamar and Regeneration. Both were outstanding in their own way. Canamar and Regeneration are only available as Promo CDs. Canamar was a pure action/science fiction score. Here for you is a track from that score.
