Timeline (2003)

There's one thing worse than dying here, and that's living here

A group of archaeological students become trapped in the past when they go there to retrieve their professor. The group must survive in 14th century France long enough to be rescued.

The Movie

The movie was not great, but it was alright for its running time. Quickly forgotten once it ended.

The Soundtrack

The task of composing the soundtrack was given to Jerry Goldsmith. However, once it was done, the powers that be decided to reject the score. For reasons that are clearly moronic. Composing the new score was Brian Tyler's job. Though Tyler did a good job, if you listen to Goldsmith's score, you will quickly be asking yourselves why it was rejected. The score is adventure and intelligence personified. A brilliant score on all counts.

Varese Sarabande Records released Jerry Goldsmith's rejected score back in 2004. However, if you roam the web and come across the complete rejected score, get it as it is a much better listening experience. It has more depth, a genuine feeling for the era, and more adventure.
